Join Islamic Networks Group on Thursday, April 13th for dinner and to learn more about the Interfaith Speakers Bureau!

The Interfaith Speakers Bureau (IFSB) is an ING program that promotes religious literacy and mutual respect among all faiths. Modeled after the Islamic Speakers Bureau, the Interfaith Speakers Bureau (IFSB) organizes panels consisting of two or more representatives from the five major religious groups speaking on a variety of topics to schools, colleges, universities, and other venues. ING continuously recruits volunteer speakers to join the Interfaith Speakers Bureau (IFSB) which operates in eight San Francisco Bay Area counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz counties.

The Interfaith Speakers Bureau currently includes representatives of the Islamic, Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, and Hindu religions. In addition to sharing a brief overview of their respective faiths, ING Interfaith speakers are trained to speak on a variety of contemporary topics, including “Living the Faith in the SF Bay Area,” “Shared Values Between Faiths,” and Contemporary Issues such as “Pluralism” and the “Separation of Church and State.” Additionally, the Jewish-Muslim panel addresses common issues related to living as religious minorities in the United States.

ING speakers in the Interfaith Speakers Bureau program are certified after a process of professional development, testing, and observation in a live setting by veteran speakers, who collectively have more than 50 years of experience in public speaking.  ING speakers adhere to the highest level of academic neutrality and objectivity when teaching about religion, as outlined in ING and the First Amendment Center.
