Will you be the voice for a child in foster care?

"My CASA volunteering gives my life MEANING and is also FUN.  I can schedule it to suit my calendar.  My CASA youth and I jointly choose what to do, so we both have fun. What else am I doing (work, exercise, movie-going, hanging with friends, travel, hiking, biking, cooking, etc.) that could possibly be as meaningful and satisfying as creating an authentic, warm connection with a young person in need of acceptance?"   Monica, current CASA Volunteer

A CASA is an advocate for an abused and neglected child in foster care. In a life full of uncertainty and endless change, you can be one consistent and caring adult.

Are you ready to become a CASA?

Summer training begins on 7/18/23. You must be 21 or older to apply. Please visit: https://www.sfcasa.org/volunteer

Update on CA State Task Force on Reparations w/ Donald Tamaki

Event Details

Please join the San Francisco Black & Jewish Unity Coalition for a special meeting with Donald Tamaki of the California State Task Force on Reparations for African Americans on June 8, Thursday evening, from 6-7:30 pm, via Zoom.

RSVP through this Eventbrite link

After almost two years of hearings, the California State Task Force presents their historic, final report and recommendations to the legislature on June 29 in Sacramento and then sunsets on July 1.  We’ll hear an update and learn from California Task Force member and civil rights lawyer Donald Tamaki, with space for Q&A discussion. Rabbi Amy Eilberg is our moderator.

Where do advocates and allies and our lawmakers go from here? Learn about the recommendations and next steps and how we can continue to support the movement.

We look forward to your attending — this is a treat and honor to have a member of the California State Task Force meet with us, especially during their final month.  Free and open to all -- feel free to share the invitation with a friend.
