Will you be the voice for a child in foster care?

"My CASA volunteering gives my life MEANING and is also FUN.  I can schedule it to suit my calendar.  My CASA youth and I jointly choose what to do, so we both have fun. What else am I doing (work, exercise, movie-going, hanging with friends, travel, hiking, biking, cooking, etc.) that could possibly be as meaningful and satisfying as creating an authentic, warm connection with a young person in need of acceptance?"   Monica, current CASA Volunteer

A CASA is an advocate for an abused and neglected child in foster care. In a life full of uncertainty and endless change, you can be one consistent and caring adult.

Are you ready to become a CASA?

Online Briefing for Community and Faith Partners

Shines A Spotlight On November 2024 Ballot Measures CA Prop 5: Reducing the Threshold to Pass Bond Measures & Regional Measure 4: The $20 Billion Nine County Affordable Housing Bond

Last year, California funded only 12% of the 120,000 affordable homes it needs to create annually to meet growing demand. This lack of affordable housing is fueling the State's homeless crisis, hurting its workforce and economy, straining family budgets, and pushing an outward migration of younger generations to seek affordable living elsewhere.

This week's "Online Briefing for Community & Faith Partners," hosted by the San Francisco Interfaith Council (SFIC), will shine a light on two November 2024 ballot measures designed to offer opportunities to address California and the Bay Area region's lack of affordable housing.

At the State level, Prop 5 empowers local voters to approve bonds, with strict accountability and oversight, for affordable housing, critical public infrastructure, and emergency response in our communities with a 55% margin.

By giving communities increased power to choose how to address their unique needs, Prop 5 shifts decisions about public policy and spending priorities away from state government and into the hands of local voters and taxpayers.

In the Bay Area, Regional Measure 4 (RM4) is the $20 billion dollar nine-county Bay Area affordable housing bond. If successful, the regional affordable housing bond will unlock critical funding for the construction of at least 70,000 affordable homes serving over 500,000 Bay Area residents over the coming decades.
