Will you be the voice for a child in foster care?

"My CASA volunteering gives my life MEANING and is also FUN. I can schedule it to suit my calendar. My CASA youth and I jointly choose what to do, so we both have fun. What else am I doing (work, exercise, movie-going, hanging with friends, travel, hiking, biking, cooking, etc.) that could possibly be as meaningful and satisfying as creating an authentic, warm connection with a young person in need of acceptance?"   - Monica, current CASA Volunteer

A CASA is an advocate for an abused and neglected child in foster care. In a life full of uncertainty and endless change, you can be one consistent and caring adult.

Are you ready to become a CASA?

The Spring DayTime training begins on 3/7/2026. You must be 21 or older to apply. Please visit: https://www.sfcasa.org/volunteer

About this Event

Breakfast Host:

Rabbi Rena Singer, Congregation Emanu-El

Reflective Moment:

Rev. Trent Thornley, San Francisco Night Ministry

Featured Presenter:

Justin Mueller, Regional Chief Executive Officer, American Red Cross

Join Justin for a discussion of the depth and breadth of the American Red Cross. He will highlight the diverse lines of service that power our mission, from disaster response and biomedical services to preparedness education, military support, and beyond. Together, we’ll explore how these services connect us to communities every day and demonstrate the vital role we play at the local level.

Mueller joined the American Red Cross in 2006 and has worked in various positions within the region, including serving as the Regional Blood Donor Services Executive. He was responsible for ensuring that the region collected enough red blood cell products safely and efficiently to supply the needs of hospitals and the community at large. The Red Cross is the largest single supplier of blood and blood products in the United States and thus plays a leading role in protecting the safety of donors and patients.

Justin is a regular whole blood, platelet and plasma donor and has personally donated 245 units of blood products. He is actively involved in the work and mission of the church and enjoys volunteering. He values balance in life and achieves it by spending quality time with his family and enjoying the great outdoors.

Faith Journey:

Judith Dancer, an "embodied Lutheran Buddhist who celebrates the Divine Feminine/Masculine within each of us."
