Will you be the voice for a child in foster care?

"My CASA volunteering gives my life MEANING and is also FUN.  I can schedule it to suit my calendar.  My CASA youth and I jointly choose what to do, so we both have fun. What else am I doing (work, exercise, movie-going, hanging with friends, travel, hiking, biking, cooking, etc.) that could possibly be as meaningful and satisfying as creating an authentic, warm connection with a young person in need of acceptance?"   Monica, current CASA Volunteer

A CASA is an advocate for an abused and neglected child in foster care. In a life full of uncertainty and endless change, you can be one consistent and caring adult.

Are you ready to become a CASA?

Winter training begins on 1/24/23. You must be 21 or older to apply. Please visit: https://www.sfcasa.org/volunteer

Centering Prayer & the Practice of Forgiveness
How many times have we heard or spoken the word “forgiveness”— in sermons, scriptures, inner promptings, prayers? We all have had countless opportunities to forgive our families, friends, co-workers, strangers, government, church, and ourselves. And yet how many times have our hearts been genuinely touched? Being honest with ourselves, have we been willing to forgive in some situations? Even with the best intentions, have we always been able to find access to our capacity to forgive?

There is so much more to forgiveness than we have yet discovered. Let us join together for a morning of contemplative reflection and dialogue on Jesus’ words and a Buddhist for- forgiveness meditation on offering and receiving forgiveness.

After two mass shootings in less than 48-hours in California alone, we are all grieving. It's difficult to process that this vigil for Thursday was organized for Monterey Park before the news in Half Moon Bay broke yesterday.

Along with offering sympathy to the families and friends of the victims and those traumatized and injured, Brady will stand in solidarity with the Asian community. Every day, we continue our work to end gun violence. Please join us at Portsmouth Square this Thursday from 5:30PM to 7PM.
