About this Event
Water and sewer systems are vital to public health. They quietly protect our families, our congregations, and our neighborhoods every single day.
Yet many parts of San Francisco's water system are nearly 100 years old. The oldest sections of our sewer system date back to the Gold Rush. These essential systems require ongoing maintenance and major upgrades to continue serving our city safely and reliably.
To prevent main breaks, ensure dependable service, and improve seismic safety, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) is replacing aging water and sewer infrastructure. Your rates help fund this work.
To continue delivering the services that San Franciscans rely on, the SFPUC is proposing water and sewer rate increases, effective July 1, 2026. Taking action now will save money in the long run. The longer we wait to make necessary upgrades, the more costly they become.
We invite you to join us for an upcoming presentation where SFPUC staff will:
- Explain the proposed rate changes
- Share why upgrades are urgently needed
- Discuss available assistance programs
- Answer your questions directly
