Si Pudiera Quedarme / If I Could Stay is a heart-wrenching and inspiring story of two undocumented Latinx mothers, Jeanette and Ingrid, who courageously enter local churches to evade deportation and protect their families. Over five years, they must face the constant threat of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids while fighting for their legal status and inspiring allies in the predominantly white faith communities. Through an intimate and raw lens, the film showcases the unwavering strength, love, and sacrifice of these mothers, who risk everything to keep their families together in the country they call home. Si Pudiera Quedarme / If I Could Stay is a call to action and a powerful reminder that providing Sanctuary is not just an act of charity, but a crucial act of social justice.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion on the issues raised in the film. Joining us for this conversation are the Rev. Miguel Bustos, manager for Racial Reconciliation and Justice for the Episcopal Church; Tessa Rouverol Callejo, Board Member, San Francisco Interfaith Council and former Senior Program Officer, Power Pathway for the San Francisco Foundation; and Theo Rigby, director of the film and founder of iNation Media. The conversation will be moderated by Amie Miller, Attorney and Specialist in Immigration and Nationality Law.

This event is co-sponsored by the San Francisco Interfaith Council

Jack Has a Plan.....Do You?

September 22 | 3:00 - 5:30 pm | Film Screening, Panel Discussion & Reception

Calvary Presbyterian Church - Calvin Hall

2515 Fillmore Street, San Francisco

Living and dying with dignity is a shared value across faith traditions. As people of faith, we talk a lot about how to live well but not always about how to die well. We hope this program will help us do just that.

Join us for a special screening of the award-winning, 73-minute documentary, Jack Has a Plan followed by a panel discussion on MAiD (Medical Aid iDying). MAiD is a right extended to Californians through the End of Life Option Act of 2016.

In partnership with members of the interfaith community, Calvary Presbyterian Church and End of Life Choices CA offer a unique opportunity to learn about and discuss end-of-life choices with people of different faith traditions. All are welcome. Suggested donation $20, no one turned away for lack of resources. Registration recommended at https://www.calvarypresbyterian.org/events (go to September 22 and click on Jack Has a Plan).

Panelists:

Robert Brody, MD, Board Chair, End of Life Choices CA

Rev. Marci Auld Glass, Pastor & Head of Staff, Calvary

Iftekar Hai, President, United Muslims of America Interfaith Alliance

BK Sr. Sukanya, Brahma Kumaris Meditation Center

Mark Greenberg, Executive Director, End of Life Choices CA
