Event Details

Will you be the voice for a child in foster care?

"My CASA volunteering gives my life MEANING and is also FUN.  I can schedule it to suit my calendar.  My CASA youth and I jointly choose what to do, so we both have fun. What else am I doing (work, exercise, movie-going, hanging with friends, travel, hiking, biking, cooking, etc.) that could possibly be as meaningful and satisfying as creating an authentic, warm connection with a young person in need of acceptance?"   Monica, current CASA Volunteer

A CASA is an advocate for an abused and neglected child in foster care. In a life full of uncertainty and endless change, you can be one consistent and caring adult.

Are you ready to become a CASA?

The Spring training begins on 4/30/2024. You must be 21 or older to apply. Please visit: https://www.sfcasa.org/volunteer

Screening: "Home is a Hotel" at Grace Cathedral

Event Details

Event Address

Grace Cathedral
1100 California Street
San Francisco, CA 94108

Please join the Housing Action Grace Group sponsoring the community screening and panel discussion of “Home is a Hotel,” a winner of the Documentary Feature Award and Audience Award at the 2023 SF Film Festival. Through intimate portraits of residents, the film documents the impact on five families living in cramped 80 sq. ft. Single Room Occupancy units – a decades-old solution to homelessness.

Homeless Prenatal Program ED Shellena Eskridge, Founder Martha Ryan, and Jacquelynn Evans (whose story is told in the film) will join the filmmakers in a panel discussion following the film to discuss the challenges families in San Francisco face and how we can respond.

Please note there is an admission fee for visitors on Sundays from 1 – 5 pm. Those wishing to attend the film screening must register in advance to avoid paying the fee.
