SFIC Online Briefing: "The Case for Reparations"

Since its founding in 1776 by colonists from Spain and incorporation in 1850, San Francisco established a legacy of discrimination, extraction, and exploitation of Black people which has continued to the present. From Anti-black laws to urban-renewal (removal of Black people), the laws, policies, and practices of the San Francisco establishment have destroyed and robbed Black San Franciscans of place, promise and prosperity. The call for reparations is not a request for benevolence. It is a call for the just repair of the generational harms sanctioned and perpetuated by the City. This week's Online Briefing for Community and Faith Partners, hosted by the San Francisco Interfaith Council, welcomes Chair of the San Francisco African American Reparations Advisory Committee Eric McDonnell, who will report on this body's work, progress, challenges and goals.
